Franklin County Designated as Storm Ready Community
The National Weather Service has designated Franklin County as a StormReady Community. The designation required the County to develop, manage and present a variety of weather related programs which inform and educate the public regarding weather related emergencies. Weather related emergencies accounted for 3 deaths, 82 injuries and over 57 million dollars in property damage in 2009.
The StormReady designation assessed Franklin County’s capabilities in several areas, including communications, public outreach and education, and the County’s preparedness efforts.
A dedication presentation by the Franklin County Commission took place on Wednesday September 22 at 8:45 a.m., at the Franklin County Department of Emergency Services Emergency Operations and Communications Facility.
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY
Franklin County Emergency Management Agency is responsible for providing
a comprehensive emergency management system in Franklin County.
Emergency Management coordinates activities through four phases of
emergency/disaster that can be natural, man-made, terrorist, hazardous
material, chemical or technological in nature.
